CTR Journal Club
How does the Journal Club work?
At each meeting, one person spends approximately 20 minutes presenting their favourite (or least favourite) journal article that they deem important to the field within the realm of the journal club theme. The presenter should provide sufficient background information such that people who are not experts can understand what is being discussed and must explain how the article contributes to our understanding of placental or trophoblast biology. Attendees will then collectively discuss and critique the chosen paper. One week prior to each journal club meeting, the selected article will be emailed out so that everyone will have a chance to read it beforehand. Presenters should try to choose articles that are not directly related to their own research.
Who can join?
CTR Journal Club membership is open to everyone who has an affinity for placental development and function, including:
- Undergraduates
- Graduate students
- Postdocs
- Clinicians
- Technicians
- Principal Investigators
You do not need to be a member of the CTR to attend or to present. If you would like to be involved, please contact Erica Watson for more information. We are always looking for new people to join us.
Please note: for the full benefit of everyone involved, we strongly encourage those who are presenters to attend the meetings on a regular basis.
