Research

My MPhil project investigates how obesity in mothers and fathers affects pregnancy outcomes, focusing on fetal growth and placental function. Both maternal and paternal obesity are linked to complications, such as fetal growth restriction and poor perinatal survival, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear.

Using mouse pregnancy samples from obesity models induced by high fat and high sugar diets, the study will compare the effects of maternal, paternal and combined parental obesity on fetal development and placental formation.
