Dr Gabrielle Oxley

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Cambridge Lactation Lab exploring the underlying biochemical mechanisms of human lactation. Using cells isolated from human breastmilk, donated as part of the Cambridgeshire Multi-Omics (CAMB-MOM) study, I build 2D and 3D models of human lactation in vitro to better understand the development and maintenance of the secretory lactocytes in the mammary gland. Previously, I have worked in research surrounding fertility treatment and miscarriage, and my PhD project focussed on the epigenetic effect of pharmaceutical drugs on the developing epigenome of the foetus and its germline. In the long-term, I would be interested in exploring the role of epigenetics in human lactation and communication with the infant.
