Research
I am a postdoctoral researcher working in the labs of Dr Naomi McGovern and Prof. Catherine Aiken. In this role, I will be investigating host-pathogen interactions in organoid models of the human placenta, particularly infection with Listeria monocytogenes. I have previously completed a PhD in biomedical engineering at Queen Mary, University of London, in which I developed and characterised microfluidic in vitro models of the human eccrine sweat gland. Prior to this, I completed a MBiomedSci at the University of Sheffield, where I investigated transcriptomic changes in a microfluidic in vitro model of the renal proximal tubule in Lowe Syndrome. I am interested in research on 3D in vitro modelling of human epithelia, modelling immune responses in vitro, epithelial physiology, and biomaterials for 3D in vitro models.
