Research

I’m a PhD student at Wellcome Sanger Institute investigating maternal-fetal communication in early human pregnancy. We use spatial transcriptomics and other methods to deconvolute spatial aspect and layout of these interactions between maternal immune cells and fetal trophoblasts. We also work with trophoblast organoids to model maternal-fetal interactions in vitro. That includes experiments aimed at resolving healthy trophoblast differentiation and invasion as well as coculturing trophoblasts with decidua-resident Natural Killer cells (dNK). General interests also include immunology, host-pathogen interactions and malaria.
