It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Roger Short, one of the giants of the field of reproductive biology. Roger’s research interests were broad, but notably he pioneered assays for measuring sex steroids and elucidated their effects on male and female gametogenesis and behaviour in laboratory and domestic species. He also worked on AIDS and population control, and championed the use of melatonin to combat jet lag. We were honoured that Roger attended many of the annual scientific meetings of the CTR. Our thoughts are with Marilyn and all their family, he will be greatly missed.
