I am a clinical medic in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, currently undertaking research as a graduate student in the Department of Medicine.
My work is aimed at investigating the genomic regulation of MHC-I in trophoblast, specifically how HLA-G is uniquely regulated and expressed on the extra-villous trophoblast. I am based in the Lehner Laboratory in the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease, which specialises in MHC and antigen presentation. My initial experiments use a combination of genomic and proteomic techniques to interrogate gene expression in a non-biased manner, which we hope to translate into physiological models of placentation.
