Fellowship Workshops

For 2024 there are two workshops, tailored to career stage – places are limited so participants will be required to register in advance.

  • Early/mid career fellowship application workshop - 11 September (11.00 – 13.00h UK BST)
  • Junior fellowship application workshop - 13 September (11.00 – 13.00h UK BST)

These interactive sessions will involve thinking carefully about what a fellowship is and what’s needed to secure one. Giving participants the knowledge and skills to apply for a fellowship so they are most competitive and increase their chance of attaining one. Particularly aimed at those who are keen on an academic research career path.

5-minute Research Presentation opportunity

One of the most exciting aspects of the course is the opportunity for participants to give a 5-minute flash talk presentation on their research to the course lecturers and participants. This provides a great platform for networking with fellow attendees and our course lecturers. Our previous participants have consistently rated this experience as the highlight of the course, and we strongly encourage you to take part.

If you would like to be considered to give a 5-minute presentation on your research, please send a 150 word abstract (authors and affiliation information is not included in the word count) to course administrator by 8 July 2024.

Applicants will be notified shortly thereafter.

Meet and Greet Sessions

We will host virtual, informal Meet and Greet sessions with CTR PIs on the final day of the course. This is a great opportunity to discuss opportunities for collaboration and training, as CTR group leaders are eligible to supervise CTR-funded PhD students and to sponsor Next Generation Fellows. Registration will be required for these sessions.

Testimonials

“Today, I have in-depth understanding and practical knowledge of human placental development and the immunological interplay during normal and complicated pregnancies. In addition, the course structure prompted new ideas for my future research and I am hopeful this will open new avenues for collaborations”
